Drawing of Alexandria, Egypt
by Jorge Perez-Rubio

This is a Pen and Ink Drawing of the view over the harbor in Alexandria from a third floor window at the Metropol Hotel on the south side of Midan Zaghul. The Mosque of Abu al-Abaas al-Mursi, muslim holy man from Andalusia is just past the corner of the Cecil Hotel, just above the statue of Sa'ad Zaghlu. The fort of Qait Bey, built during the time of Mohammad Ali, is on the same spot of the ancient pharos; just to the right beyond the picture plane. The harbor is wide and fishermen still dredge the waters of the Mediterranea; it is more manageable than Cairo and plus cosmopilite. Train from Cairo takes two hours and it's great.
